You can make a request for your course to be moved from Moodle over into Canvas. However, it is such a fast-and-easy task, that you’ll spend a lot less time moving your course over, if you do it yourself. Also, you’ll have the option of identifying exactly what you want moved and can even adjust the assignment due dates, relative to the new semester.
This video shows you how to:
Back up your Moodle course
The phrase “back-up” is a bit misleading, as what you’re most likely wanting to do when you get to this part of your Moodle course is to save the class to your computer.
Download the course shell onto your computer
Moodle lets you select specifically what you want to move over into Canvas. This saves you time, as you don’t then need to remove these items one-by-one, once it gets into Canvas.
Import the course shell into your course on Canvas
Now that the course is on your hard drive, you go over to Canvas into the specific class you want the content and other items added to… You have selections at this point, such as identifying what content you want brought into Canvas, and the ability to adjust the dates into the new semester you’ll be teaching.
