The Vanguard Educational Technology Department has created a series of videos you can watch to get to know Canvas, or to expand your knowledge. The videos are modular and are designed to mirror the content that is presented at in-person and online Canvas live workshops.
In these videos, you will discover how to:
Get started with Canvas
Navigate Canvas and customize your environment as you use this learning management system (LMS). In this M1 video, you’ll see different ways that you can move in and out of courses and introduce yourself to students and other people in the Vanguard Canvas community.
Explore an existing course
Examine various ways to invite students into your course through a home page. In this M2 video, discover how Canvas helps you organize course content through modules and your syllabus.
Teach a course
In this M3 video, you’ll see how to grade students’ work using SpeedGrader. Give powerful feedback to students by recording audio or video of yourself with just a few clicks of your mouse or taps of your finger on your tablet. Give quizzes to assess students’ learning.
Design a course
There are flexible options within Canvas for how to design a course, as explored in this M4 video. You can keep things simple and use it as a place for students to submit assignments and receive feedback on their academic performance, or you can teach a fully online course and facilitate engaging and relevant learning experiences for your students.
Import a Moodle course into Canvas
You can leverage your Moodle course content within Canvas, as you’ll discover in this M5 video. Backing up a Moodle course and then importing it into Canvas only takes a few minutes and then you can save yourself all that time of creating the content from scratch.
